THE PROBLEM
Many rural kids go to school hungry, are malnourished, and drop out to find work. As of 2015 there were 264 million school age kids that are out of school (UNESCO).

Farmers in the developing world struggle to feed their kids. This is due to varying structural issues that go back to the country's colonized past, and the use of synthetic and crude-oil based chemicals which have made farmers no longer self sufficient and receive lower net profits.
In the Philippines, farmers especially struggle during the start of the rainy season, which is when farmers put everything they have into planting rice. At this time, farmers also no longer have their own inventory and are borrowing money to buy food for their families. Unfortunately, this also coincides with the start of school.
