Balkibayan refers to the modern manifestation of the general Philippine practice of pasalubong, where travellers are culturally expected to bring home gifts for family, friends and colleagues. This boat is in essence a tribute to the spirit of my Filipino family and friends. This boat, though extended beyond any notion of practicality, remains aloft and unburdened by its cargo. It is in fact that cargo, the balikbayan itself that balances the boat, enabling it, rather. empowering it to move forward.
